Richard MacDonald : Director

Richard joined Keppie in 2005 following thirteen years with international architect Aukett.  Richard managed Aukett’s Glasgow office for over four years, delivering many high profile commercial buildings around the UK.  He has a leading role promoting best practice in workplace design, urban design and master planning at Keppie.  Richard was appointed a Main Board Director in 2007.

He was educated at Dundee University, graduating with an honours degree in Architecture in 1992.  Since graduating Richard has gained extensive experience delivering commercial projects especially office, retail, residential, industrial, business parks and major master planning projects.

Richard has a passion for high quality timeless design, rigorous detailing and technical competence balanced with fluid and creative conceptualisation.  He enjoys working in a team environment mentoring staff, listening to Clients’ needs and always endeavours to exceed the expectations of all commissioning Clients. Richard contributes to the industry in his role with the Scottish Chapter of the British Property Federation and regularly talks at conferences and seminars.  Richard has a drive and determination to make projects succeed in terms of design, cost programme, Client satisfaction and has a ‘can-do’ attitude.

He leads the ‘Working’ strand at Keppie.  As well as setting strategic aims, Richard is responsible for co-ordinating the bidding, winning and execution of projects ranging from large-scale office campus parks to city centre towers.  In tandem, Richard co-leads the urban design team that has become an integral element of our balanced design services.
