Richard studied at Dundee University gaining a BArch (Hons) degree before working as an Assistant Director for 14 years with a London based international architect. Richard joined Keppie in 2005 and was promoted to Board Director in 2006, and is now a co-owner of the practice along with Peter, David and Fraser.
Richard leads Keppie’s commercial strategy and invests a large proportion of his time, mentoring staff and analysing the latest trends in the private real estate market and applying those trends and thinking to projects. Richard has expert skills in identifying the development potential of sites and creates, with the help of the highly talented Keppie team, high value design solutions for key clients and end users throughout the UK and overseas. Richard has designed and delivered many significant, award winning, mixed use developments, delivering high value returns for clients. These projects regularly receive design accolades and awards from various industry bodies and Richard is immensely proud of these achievements, but always strives to improve the quality of design and service on every project. As well as leading the commercial team in the practice, Richard is responsible for the Sales Pillar, primary focused on high quality client care and winning new business throughout all sectors. Richard recently, with the help of the board, coordinated the repositioning of Keppie brand to better represent the current and future ethos of the company, and led the relaunch of the website. Richard is a member of several real estate organisations including the British Property Federation ( Scottish Chapter ) and the British Council for Offices (BCO) and he regularly talks at seminars and conferences.
Richard is very passionate about inclusion, and diversity in society and recently participated in a national campaign promoting these values by a Leading Scottish Football Club. Richard also coaches and attempts to still play football in his limited spare time.
