Keppie Goes Green

On Friday 19th August we took the whole team across to Dean Castle Country Park to spend the day volunteering with the Park Rangers from East Ayrshire Leisure Trust (EALT). EALT’s vision is to support and manage a range of Cultural and Sports Facilities and valuable Leisure Services that contribute to a Plan for Well Being, Sustainability, and Safer Communities, all whilst Improving the Economy and Skills Development across East Ayrshire.

We assisted with hedge planting in the Orchard and Nuttery areas of the castle grounds, planting around 1,200 trees. The new hedge will provide a natural barrier to an area that, in time, will provide free food and many environmental education opportunities for the local community.

We also supported the team by collecting a monumental amount of litter from the park and surrounding areas, as well as building and securing bird boxes, all with the aim of encouraging and maintaining the biodiversity of the park.
