Particularly popular spaces with teachers and pupils are the activity areas between classrooms, which allow activities to spill out of more formal teaching zones. Large rooflights give natural light to these areas in autumn and spring, with a high level of artificial lighting in the short winter days.
The primary schools are part of a larger 10 school package of work, whose PPP bid period was extended to allow extra scrutiny of the sole bidder’s proposals. The five primaries were divided between two building contractors, Morrison and Tulloch.
