New Spa Facilities for Open Golf Guests

First stage of St Andrews Old Course Hotel refurbishment completed on time

International golfers and their fans staying at the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews during the Open next week will be able to take advantage of new facilities in the hotel spa. Keppie Interior Design have project managed an extremely tight 17 week programme to deliver new treatment rooms, and a new gym, as well as an upgrade to changing facilities and retail and relaxation areas in time for next week’s big event.

Working to a design concept prepared by Corporate Edge, the project was carried out in close collaboration with contractors Tulloch, and as well as obtaining all the necessary Building Regulation approvals, the team had to co-ordinate the decanting of existing facilities, stripping out and refitting works without undue disruption or disturbance to guests staying at the five star hotel.

As the final snagging items were dealt with, Keppie Interior Design Director, Fraser Low, said: ‘With no margin for error in the completion date, the key to successful on-time delivery was a true partnership relationship between design team, contractor, and Wisconsin based client Kohler Co.’

The new spa facilities are the first phase of a programme of developments at the hotel that will see new hydrotherapy facilities and an enhanced leisure pool. Keppie are also involved in developing plans for a new rooftop Jazz Club at the hotel.
