Keppie supports The Herald 225 anniversary celebrations

For 225 years, The Herald has reported on the changing face of Scotland and the world. For over 150 of those years Keppie has been one of Glasgow’s foremost architectural practices, creating a legacy of buildings across the West of Scotland and beyond, including the famous Mackintosh-designed Herald building in Mitchell Street.

In recognition of this relationship between two long-standing Glasgow institutions, Keppie is helping The Herald celebrate its anniversary by supporting various activities throughout 2008. A souvenir magazine, to be published in the spring, will include an article on Herald buildings written by Keppie Director David Stark. Later in the year, Keppie will assist in the preparation of a special ‘Herald 225’ exhibition, featuring illustrations from the paper's extensive photo archive. This will be held in The Lighthouse during the summer.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Keppie Director Andrew Pinkerton said, ‘The Herald and Keppie have a lot in common. Both have helped to shape Scotland in their own distinct ways, and throughout their long histories both have been leaders in their respective industries. With the Mackintosh link to the Herald’s home for over 100 years, it is entirely fitting that the two organisations should come together to celebrate this particular milestone, and we are delighted to be associated with it.’

The Herald and Keppie already enjoy a successful collaborative relationship, thanks to Keppie's sponsorship of the International Scot of the Year Award, part of the Scottish Politician of the Year Awards.
