Living
Creating vibrant sustainable places. Thinking about the guest experience. Fresh ideas towards leisure. Heightening the retail experience.
Fundamentally, architecture is a social art. Its main concerns are with quality of life, therefore our work seeks to recognise these concerns through focusing on the people whose lives it will influence. To do this requires observation and understanding as opposed to speculation and assumption.
The majority of our successful buildings and spaces are born out of necessity. Their initial aspirations are often no more than the pragmatic arrangement of function. However, when predicated on an understanding of context and a respect for tradition, they can transcend mere building and become places which have a special quality and resonant spirit.
The fluid nature of living excites us. Anticipating ways in which different aspects of life – the need for shelter, the desire for stimulation, the search for meaning - is a fantastic challenge for designers. As architects we need to be both specialists and generalists responding to the challenges of multi-use communities. The combination of activities that form our daily routines – living, shopping, playing, socialising, relaxing – is the framework of perspectives against which we aim to create successful and sustainable places. We recognise that, while the majority of our successful buildings and spaces are born out of necessity, they can also become places people enjoy spending time in and around.
