Charles joined Keppie in 2003 with over twenty years experience across a wide range of architectural projects and sectors. He was promoted to Associate shortly after joining Keppie and to Divisional Director in 2006. Charles has a lead role in client account management, professional team liaison and the management of the design and delivery of projects from inception to completion primarily in retail and commercial projects.
Charles trained at Edinburgh University and qualified with a MA Honours degree and Diploma in Architecture in 1984. With considerable knowledge and experience from many architectural projects of varying type, scale, value and complexity Charles has led consultant teams through the design and delivery process. Prior to joining Keppie projects included The West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds and Exchange Plaza, Edinburgh, a two hundred thousand square feet city centre office development. Retail projects included an extension to Cameron Toll Shopping Centre and a variety of projects for Jenners, including Lomond Shores.
Believing strongly that exploring opportunity and creative design must remain the primary objective he recognises that creativity can be successfully balanced with sound technical expertise and construction experience. Charles promotes working with others in a creative and practical manner, whilst reinforcing the need to develop an attention to detail to support the challenge of producing architecture to meet and exceed our Clients’ expectations. As part of the Keppie management team Charles is also engaged with our strand leaders and is actively involved in the design and delivery processes from inception to completion of projects.
Charles says:
“Successful projects are those that challenge and explore opportunity, often the result of the collaborative skills of everyone involved. This belief is shared by Keppie in our approach to the design and delivery of projects to the highest creative and technical standards.”
