Throughout our 150-year history, Keppie has maintained a leading position within a constantly evolving industry.

The practice designed what is believed to have been the first electrically lit house in the UK – Murdostoun Castle in Lanarkshire, completed in 1882 – and the first air-conditioned building in the world, the Glasgow School of Art, phase 1, opened in 1899.

Charles Rennie Mackintosh, John Honeyman and John Keppie are all part of Keppie’s architectural history. Keppie Director David Stark’s book, ‘Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Co. 1854-2004’ explains the development of the practice and its legacy of buildings across the west of Scotland and beyond, including the influential Mackintosh years.
